Who Should Consider This Rotation

This rotation is ideal for international medical graduates (IMGs) and medical students seeking hands-on clinical experience in cardiology. It is especially beneficial for IMGs pursuing careers in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, as Endocrinology conditions are frequently encountered in these specialties.

What You Can Expect

During this rotation, you will work under the direct supervision of a board-certified endocrinologist After an initial period of observation, you will progressively assume greater responsibility in patient care.

Please note: This is not a shadowing observership, it is a hands-on clinical experience designed to enhance your practical skills and clinical judgment.

Throughout the rotation, you will:

  • Conduct patient histories

  • Develop evidence-based therapeutic plans

  • Present patient cases

  • Write progress notes

  • Provide patient education

  • Research medical literature to address clinical questions at the point of care

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals; including front office staff, medical assistants, and nurses; to gain insight into their roles and responsibilities

  • Receive regular feedback on your performance

 

Letter of Recommendation & Awards:
Participants who meet the expectations and guidelines of the AACE rotation may be eligible for a personalized letter of recommendation. The Externship Coordinator will assist the supervising physician by providing structured guidelines to ensure the letter reflects the quality and scope of your clinical experience.

Where This Rotation Takes Place

The rotation will be held at our clinics in Dearborn, and Dearborn Heights, located throughout the Metro Detroit area.

Duration & Hours

The rotation lasts 8 to 10 weeks and takes place Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (EST).
